The Federated Research Data Repository (FRDR) offers a valuable national discovery service that allows users to search for research data from institutions across Canada in one place. This service was recently upgraded with the addition of Geodisy - a geospatial search tool for data associated with a location. While the two separate platforms each provide powerful discovery capabilities, there was still room for improvement. We realized we could rebuild it. We have the technology. We could make it better than it was. Better, stronger, faster… geospatial-er. Thus, the FRDR Discovery Redesign Project was born.
In this lunch and learn, Mark Goodwin will share an update on our efforts to create a platform that seamlessly integrates map-based searching with the existing discovery platform and offers enhanced overall search capabilities for Canadian research data.
